About Us

Amatsiko is a registered community based organization (CBO) operating in South- Western Uganda, Kabale District, Kigezi region. The idea for the project was initially conceived in 2005 by Alex Atuheire, the project director, after he saw the detrimental effects that being orphaned or vulnerable had on the future of the community's children.

    Family Background: Joyce stays with grandmother, and her siblings. Her parents died when she was still young and her grandmother is currently a casual laborer and struggles to provide for all the children.

    Family Background: Both parents are peasants. Barham’s mother is the first wife. His dad has two wives and the second wife have 5 children totaling to 16 children. The family does not have any source of income and becomes hard for them to provide all the basic needs for their children.

    Favourite Subject(s): English is his favorite subject. He would like to be a pilot in future. He is soccer fan and like Arsenal Football club in Europe.

    Family Background: Aloysius stays with his grandmother. He mother abandoned him when he was a toddler and she went on the streets to be a sex worker. All his siblings are not attending school as their grandmother is unable to support them through their education.
